You know the following spells:
missile             : 100%    buffer              : 100%    healing             : 100%
meditate            : 100%    fireball            : 100%    whip                : 100%

thats from typing spells.
Spells afterwards doesn't give the errors. Also, I noticed the lack of spells that I have... is d2.9a13 a GPL version?

EDIT: I didn't download ds2.9a13.zip, I just downloaded the folder...

/powers/prayers/._healing

There is nothing in that directory named that in the default lib.
My wild guess is that either someone made manual backups
by putting a dot and underscore in front of the filenames, or
perhaps you use an editor that automatically makes backups
formatted that way.

I don't know what you mean by downloading the folder, but
maybe whatever you used to do that downloading created
these dot files.

Whatever the case, I cannot reproduce this "massive bug" on the default lib.

See if it happens when you install the mud following the instructions.

EDIT: I *could* probably reproduce it if I renamed spells to have filenames
that began with "._" but I'm assuming you aren't saying that "when I rename
my spells to start with "._" they don't work!"

I did follow the instructions. However, in the site (http://dead-souls.net/code/alpha/) there is a folder called ds2.9a13, and then a zipped folder named ds2.9a13.zip. I did not download teh zipped version. Also, I think I remember reading in one of the FAQs something about the GPL version have less content. Is the version I downloaded 'GPL'd?

I am not trying to be a wiseacre, but I do not understand this at all. What did you download?
How did you do so? What did you install?

At this point, I am not sure what you downloaded. But there hasn't been a
GPL version for years now.

http://dead-souls.net/code/alpha/ds2.9a13/ I right clicked on that link and downloaded the folder (save linked folder as...). Don't ask me why. Is this version different than the rest?

Aha! I think it might have something to do with the way it was built, but;

doing an 'ls -a' showed me that EVERYTHING, even the folders, has an extra name ._name, such as ._bin, ._extra, ._healing.c and etc. I don't think thats good. Is there a command I can use to just go through and rm all of it?

I won't ask you why but it sure sounds like this is the problem and it
is not what the instructions say you should do.

Deleted all the odd backups. And, Cratylus, I did do exactly what that says. Me thinks the root/sysadmin may have 'make' or some other such thing set to make backups of everything, because it wasn't just DS, but my SMAUG distro and other things!

Weird, but it sounds like a fair guess.

Sounds like you're all set now, good luck with your muds!

Those ._ has been probably added by your browser/downloader. "Save linked folder as"? What provides that option?!

Bottom note: ALWAYS GET THE .ZIP PACKAGE.
I think, therefore i may be wrong.
Please note that if you met a Raudhrskal in a place that's not related to muds, it wasn't me. *sigh*... back when I started there was zero hits on google for that name...
