Private rooms
« on: June 28, 2009, 11:53:18 pm »
I'm trying to find some sort of documentation or way to make it so that the start room is for ecample, always your bedroom, and no one else who starts the game at the same time ends up there. I read about virual rooms, unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that's not what I want.. yet not 100%. Is there any way to do such a thing? I have the rooom as for example, bedroom.c, I decided I'd use start.c for something different and short like a storyline thing.

Thanks in advance. I'm not completely LPC efficient at the moment, but I do know C, so its not completely misunderstandable.

There's no such documentation, nor a default way to make a unique
start room for everyone.

However, each player has her own "virtual void", the path of which is determined by the
playername. For example, I can:

goto /domains/default/virtual/void/user_cratylus

This is done with a virtual room server that is different from the others
in the mud. Take a look at /domains/default/virtual/server.c and
/domains/default/virtual/void.c to see how those individialized rooms
are made. To make an individualized "home room" for new players,
you'd copy those to something similar.

There isn't a lot of documentation in general about virtual stuff.
This is where you start getting into the old-school way of doing
things in LPC...find an example, copy it, then keep tinkering with
your broken code til it works.
