Who's around
« on: August 12, 2007, 01:37:51 PM »
Hello Ladys and Gents. I'm wondering who's still about? is LPU really deader than dead and have any of the muds pending 'development' on the DS platform gone Beta yet?  ;)

LPU the lib is still used on occasion. LPU the organization is dead as
fried chicken, as far as I know.

As to dev muds, the ones that seemed most promising were Alexander's
"The Ultimate Galaxy",  Zeus's "Ancient Rome", and Luna's "Neverland".

Sadly TUG and AR seem to have fallen off the planet. Neverland
people occasionally pop up on the radar, but they're rarely on
intermud anymore. Last I knew they had some hosting problems.

There's a project by old Nightmare folks, I think it's called "Rise of Praxis"
or somesuch. Dunno its status, but it sounded like they were enjoying themselves.

Beyond that, I haven't heard much. If people are progressing past Alpha
into Beta, they haven't shared it with me.

I'm around.  Not that I'm anything to do with DS.

We always thought it was kind of odd that Descartes named his lib Dead Souls.  "We" being Lost Souls.  Probably it's just that our name is so cool that it colonized his brane.

Descartes used to study the Russian language. Dead Souls is a
novel that is part of "Russian Literature", and it probably had
some meaning to him such that he named his development
mud after it.

The basic plot of the story is that an unscrupulous con
artist would profit from having dead people still counted
on government registries of the living.

How that applies to a dev mud, you'd have to ask Descartes.

Arcania Mud is still being developed using the DeadSouls lib.  Arcania has been completely outlined down to the smallest detail.  I have been working on this project for over two years now. I have completed a new Help File System, a barebones version of which can be found in the Code Vault in this forum. I have also written numerous smaller commands, files and functions.  My current project is to rewrite the combat engine (there is a topic for this project in the Dead Souls section of this message board). Once that is done, I feel that I can progress much faster with the other pending changes. I believe that Arcania is one of the handful of projects that are still around since DSv2.0 was made available. The attrition beast ate the rest of them.

I complete everything I start.

Yea I guess I am still around too. On average I spend about 4 hours per day for 3 weeks per year on DS2 related coding :D Getting there slowly but steadily.
