I can honestly say the foul ups with add-action, speaking as a player and the head admin were not as bad, even when we were heavily populated

verbs is the way to go, but there is a time and a place for add-actions

For example a a Tauren uses " warstomp" or a blood elf uses  torrent these actions really better off as add--action

But in that case, are you really talking about a verb, or a command?

"warstomp" sounds like an inherent racial ability, not something you apply to something else.  If we're following the WoW model, you don't "warstomp foobar", you just "warstomp", and if foobar is close enough, he gets hit.

I also have to wonder, how many players would type "stomp" and expect it to work?  When you did an add_action() on your race object, did you remember to add both?

However, if you do believe add_action() is more often the right choice, why use Lima?  Discworld has a very nice extended parser that works with add_action() and solves some of its issues by parsing things a bit more flexibly.

Sojan even said there'd be a new mudlib release on a Thursday.
