I'm thinking that "no time soon" is a safe bet....until it isn't, of course.

Intermud / Re: I4

I'm sure you guys noticed the recent I3 drama involving our friend Torak, and his attempts to destablize and bring down I3 by exploiting the fact that any MUD can allow anyone to chat over I3 channels.

How do you propose protecting the network from such activities if anyone can setup their own I4 router and automatically join in as an equal partner to everyone else?

The structure of the network is moot.  As long as you keep it easy to join the network (as it should be) then the Toraks can just grab another IP and be right back in business.  The way I3 does it with channel owners being their own authority and mud's being held accountable for their people is about as good as it gets.

I'm rather surprised FluffOS does NOT have is a console.

There is a limited console...check the options.

I started to about a year or so ago, but I had to move and by the time I got into a stable situation again I had lost interest.  Luckily, someone has decided to do pretty much exactly what I wanted to do:;topicseen#new

the code is :  "non-exsisting-object"->xxx()

shouldn't you check to see if an object exists before trying to call a function in it?

Hey, Camlorn, have you come across the basic and intermediate LPC manuals by Descartes?

Since there has been no response to this, I guess I'll give it a go and if I get it wrong then maybe someone will be kind enough to correct me.

1) I believe Lil to be under the same license as MudOS.

2) I believe that 'public domain,' as I've seen it used for code, means that you can do whatever you want with it.  **Giving 'credit where credit is due' is prolly still a good idea.

3) FluffOS follows the license of MudOS and MudOS follows the license of the original LPmud..which basically says two can't make money using it, and all rights of the original authors are (p)reserved.

So, as I see it, a lib based on Lil would be restrained, at the minimum, to being should be free to distribute it and the fluff source (and the windows binary, since Cratylus didn't add anything license-wise).

Intermud / Re: channel list update

the spec says: The router will respond to channel list changes with the chanlist-reply packet.

So maybe you could fake a change, like removing a non-existent channel, and get a chanlist.

Is it likely that I could find someone to allow me to learn/code for them on a fantasy based MUD experience? Or should I really just play on my own MUD?

No reason you can't do both.
